Happy Nurturer Day

“Be the one who nurtures and builds. Be the one who has an understanding and forgiving heart one who looks for the best in people. Leave people better than you found them”  Marvin J. Ashton

It occurs to me that if we want true equality as women, maybe we should lead the way in showing some leadership on the topic. I have always struggled with these gender based holidays like Mothers Day and Fathers Day. Because in seeking equality, we are asking to be recognized for all of our qualities.

My Mom was both Mother and Father, and that is the case for many families. It also excludes those who don’t have kids but exhibit the qualities that we associate with Mothers and Fathers. So this Mothers day, I suggest that we honor the qualities in one another that we associate historically to the female.

So today I wish to recognize and appreciate in all that I encounter the attributes that I associate to Mother.

Loving, Kindness and Caring. Your soft place to land, knowing that you are accepted and loved in all that you are and all that you do. Extending the hand of help to those that need it. Caring about the well being of all others.

Strength, Courage and Bravery. Your fiercest protector, with the strength to withstand whatever it takes to protect and keep you safe always. The Bravery to lead the way without knowing what the outcomes might be.

Teacher. Showing others the way, how to treat ourselves, how to treat one another. The golden rule of treating others as we would like to be treated ourselves.

Community. Giving back and making sure that the place that you live is safe and supportive. Actively participating in building the nest that nourishes.

Nurturer and Healer. Healing each others wounds, and supporting one another physically and emotionally. Being the shoulder to cry on in times or troubles, or the ear to listen so someone feels heard.

Forgiving. Knowing that whatever mistakes are made, are quickly forgiven and corrected. Showing the importance of learning from your mistakes, and forgiving yourself.

Balance. Excess of anything will put you out of balance. Striving to find the balance in any and all situations.

So today is a reminder to me to celebrate in you, whether you are male or female the qualities that I associate to a Mother.

Wishing you all a Happy Nurturer’s Day

Love and Hugs

Jacquie
